Matt Danciger is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, editor, writer, and artist whose work combines cinematic storytelling, music, and visual innovation. He first gained international recognition with his suspenseful short film Outside, which won an Academy Award® Student Academy Award and earned additional honors including the Directors Guild of America Student Award and recognition as a Leopard of Tomorrow at the Locarno Film Festival.
Over the course of his career, Danciger has directed acclaimed short films, commercials, and music videos while building a reputation as a highly sought-after editor and creative collaborator. To support independent filmmakers and emerging talent, he designed and founded Switch Studios, a boutique post-production company in Venice, California, where he helped bring countless projects from concept to screen.
Danciger is the founder of Construction Cinema, a boutique production company dedicated to capturing the art, ambition, and scale of architecture and construction. Blending architectural photography, aerial cinematography, time-lapse imaging, strategic marketing, and compelling visual storytelling, Construction Cinema transforms construction projects into engaging narratives of innovation and progress. Under Danciger’s creative leadership, the company has produced award-winning campaigns, films, and presentations for global brands including Sony Pictures Entertainment, Red Bull, HBO, Gensler, Apple, Sonos, and MillerCoors, helping transform complex projects into stories that inspire investors, stakeholders, and the public.
A twenty-year veteran of the Burning Man project and an active contributor to its culture of radical creativity, Danciger—known on the playa as “Loki”—has long explored the intersection of art, spectacle, technology, and community. He is the creator of multiple mutant vehicles, including the legendary GiantCockCar, featured on Forbes’ “Best of Burning Man” list and celebrated as one of the festival’s most memorable mobile artworks. From cinema and music to immersive experiences and large-scale interactive installations, Danciger’s work is driven by a belief in the transformative power of creativity and the stories that connect us.
Now based in Berlin, Germany, Danciger develops original film and music-driven projects for international audiences. His current feature film, Let’s Talk Tacheles, is an award-winning musical drama inspired by the true story of Berlin’s post-Wall artistic revolution. Developed over more than a decade of research and writing, the project is currently in development in collaboration with 27 Films Productions and has received multiple screenplay honors on the international festival circuit. The film reflects Danciger’s passion for music, history, and the belief that art has the power to unite people, challenge oppression, and help create a more hopeful and compassionate world.
